Accumulated drop-outs from Pre-Bologna and Bachelor?s degree courses
Number of students in a given cohort who definitively give up studying between year one and the last academic year considered. Accumulated drop-outs are calculated by adding the annual drop-outs since year one up until a given academic year. A drop-out is a student who does not enrol in the course during two consecutive academic years and has not graduated.
Accumulated drop-outs from Master?s degree courses

Initial students
Number of students that enrol for the first time in the degree course, in each of the academic years considered.
Students going outside of Catalonia
Students from Catalan universities linked to a mobility programme who have undertaken stays at other universities.
Students coming from outside Catalonia
Students from non-Catalan universities linked to a mobility programme who have undertaken stays at a Catalan university.
Field of study/Subject area
Group of courses that make up a homogeneous subject area.
Year started
Academic year in which the student started a course.
Allocated
Number of students completing the university entrance application process and who have been offered a place.
Allocated according to preference
Number of students completing the university entrance application process and who have been offered a place, bearing in mind their order of preference. For example, a student with a first-choice allocation was offered a place on the course that was his/her first choice.
Change of course
Number of students in a given cohort who drop out of their first degree to take another of the same type (i.e. if they are on a pre-Bologna course and go on to take another pre-Bologna course; if they are taking a Bachelor-level course and go on to take another Bachelor-level course, or the same thing with a Master?s course) in the system of public universities in Catalonia.
Teaching staff category
Academic level of the university?s teaching staff. Teaching staff are either public service (professor or similar) or contract (part-time, collaborating, tenure-track, senior teaching staff, etc.).
Faculty/school
Basic organisational unit according to which a university is structured and is mainly responsible for the management and organisation of university courses leading to recognised degrees.
Cohort
Students who enrol for the first time in the first academic year of a study programme in a faculty or department.
Continue to study
Number of students in a given cohort that enrolled and did not graduate in the reference academic year.
Ordinary credit
Number of teaching hours of a teacher with students enrolled in the subject being taught. The total number of credits in a subject must be passed using a system of assessment.
Credits offered
The resulting figure after multiplying by eight the number of course subjects offered in the curriculum.
Theoretical course credits
Minimum number of credits a student needs to earn in order to graduate.
Academic year
Period of time that runs generally from September to September.
Demand
Number of applications to the university entrance application process, taking into account all possible paths of admission.

Nombre d’estudiants que fan la sol•licitud de preinscripció universitària a un estudi de grau des de qualsevol via. Es té en compte l’estudi que l’estudiant ha sol•licitat en primera preferència a la convocatòria de juny. En el procés de preinscripció hi entra l’oferta dels centres integrats i adscrits, únicament de les universitats públiques i la Universitat de Vic – Universitat Central de Catalunya.
Demand according to preference
Number of applications to the university entrance application process according to the student?s order of choice, taking into account all possible paths of admission.
Doctorate/PhD holder
University graduate who has completed a doctoral programme and produced and successfully defended his/her doctoral thesis.
European Higher Education Area (EHEA)
The European framework for education and quality set up as a result of the Bologna Declaration to promote economic growth, competitiveness at international level and social cohesion in Europe through lifelong education and training of citizens and mobility.
Degree course
Either a Bachelor-level, Master?s or pre-Bologna degree.
Full time equivalent (FTE) student
Number resulting from the total number of enrolled credits for the student body in one academic year for each degree course and research proficiency programme offered by the university, divided by the average number of credits that students have to take each year in order to complete their studies within the established theoretical time frame. Under no circumstances will credits that have been validated, recognised, adapted and/or equivalents be taken into consideration.

És el quocient entre els estudiants ETC ( alumne que matricula 60 crèdits ECTS) i els professors ETC ( aquell que imparteix 240 hores de docència en aula en el curs acadèmic considerat)
Enrolled students
Number of students who have enrolled in and admitted to a course.
Pre-Bologna courses
Group of academic courses that make up a pre-Bologna unit of study (prior to the setting up of the European Higher Education Area). Degree courses are either first cycle (either a 3-year general degree, diplomatura, or a degree in Industrial Engineering/enginyeria t?cnica), first and second cycle (4-year degree, llicenciatura, or higher studies in Engineering) or second cycle (4-year degree, llicenciatura, or higher studies in Engineering).
Recognised Bachelor?s degree courses
University courses leading to a recognised Bachelor-level degree. Bachelor?s degree are worth 240 ECTS credits, equivalent to four academic years. Only in exceptional cases will Bachelor?s courses carry more credits and this will involve a longer period of study.
Recognised Master?s degree courses
Programmes of study that provide advanced training towards academic or professional specialisation and/or encourage a student?s initiation into research. Those wishing to develop an academic career and/or research after a Master?s degree can go on to take a doctoral programme.
Combined-course class teaching hours
Hours of class taught by a teacher/s in a classroom with students from more than one course (the same degree or different degrees). It does not include tutorial time, class preparation, exam marking, etc. This refers to degree courses, not doctoral programmes.
Non-combined course class teaching hours
Hours of class taught by a teacher/s in a classroom with students on the same course. It does not include tutorial time, class preparation, exam marking, etc. This refers to degree courses, not doctoral programmes.
Classroom teaching hours
Classroom hours taught by teachers. This is the sum of hours taught in both combined-course teaching and non-combined course teaching. It does not include tutorial time, class preparation, exam marking, etc. This refers to degree courses, not doctoral programmes.
Group size
Number of students in the group.
Group number
Number of groups the course is divided into for teaching purposes. The groups may be theoretical, practical, field work, laboratory practicals, professional experience/internment, clinical practice, etc.
Entry grade
Qualification whereby a student is eligible to participate in the university entrance application process. The grade obtained in the general part of the university entrance examination (PAU), together with the average for the baccalaureate (upper secondary school leaving examination) exam, gives the required entry grade for a university degree course.
Nota de tall juny
És la nota mínima (nota del darrer alumne admès a l’estudi) de la convocatòria de juny, dels alumnes de la via 0 (Batxillerat + PAU) i 4 (FP2, CFGS) .
Nou accès en primera preferència
Percentatge d’alumnes de nou accés a l’estudi que van escollir aquell estudi com a 1a opció en el procés de preinscripció,. Només fa referència als alumnes de la convocatòria de juny, per les vies d’accés 0 (Batxillerat + PAU), 4 (FP2, CFGS), 7 (Alumnes que ja han passat per la universitat provinents de batxillerat) i 8 (Alumnes que ja han passat per la universitat provinents de CFGS).

Number of students that, for the first time, completed enrolment in a course, having gained admission by any process of admission or transfer (from another university, another course or another faculty/school). For calculation purposes, new students are those who:

The total number of teaching hours by contract staff divided by 240 (number of teaching hours of full-time teachers).
Teachers
Number of university teaching staff involved in teaching and/or research.
Mobility programme and subprogramme
Source of funding, the general objective of which is to facilitate exchange, cooperation and international mobility between the systems of education and training in the countries participating in the programme.
Repeats (would take the same course again)
Percentage of those surveyed who would take the same degree course again.
T (theoretical duration)
Anticipated number of years for a student to graduate, according to the curriculum.
T+1
Theoretical duration of the course, plus one year.
Drop-out rate
The number (percentage) of students who dropped out of their degree course, in relation to the total number of students in the cohort who started.
Taxa d’eficiència
Per als titulats o titulades en un determinat curs, quocient entre el nombre de crèdits teòrics necessaris per titular-se i el nombre de crèdits dels quals s’ha hagut de matricular un estudiant per titular-se. Si un estudiant es matricula únicament dels crèdits necessaris per titular-se, i els supera, tindrà una taxa d’1 (100%). En el cas dels graus, els crèdits teòrics són els que consten al ROC, i en el cas dels màsters, són els crèdits que haurà de superar l’alumne al màster en funció de la seva formació prèvia.
Graduation rate
The number of students who graduated either within the theoretical length of time to complete the degree or within the theoretical length of time to complete the degree plus one year, expressed as a percentage of the total number of students in the cohort.
Credit completion rate
Number of credits earned in relation to the number of enrolled credits during the year. In courses not adapted to the European Higher Education Area (EHEA), ordinary credits correspond to the number of classroom teaching hours by teaching staff. In EHEA-adapted courses, this also includes hours of student study time.
Theses defended
Number of doctoral students who have successfully defended their theses.
Qualification that is a job requirement
A degree course that is a requirement for the job (specific degree, a university degree or no degree qualification required).
Graduate
Student who has earned 100% of the credits required to be awarded the degree, regardless of whether the degree has actually been issued or not.
Accumulated graduates
Number of students that have graduated since a given academic year up until the specified academic year. Graduate students are those who have earned 100% of the credits required to be awarded the degree.
Teaching quality premiums
Recognition of quality over a five-year period dedicated to teaching. If faculty staff (teaching and research staff) have earned premiums in different categories, premiums in the different categories are added together and will be shown in the current category.
Current teaching quality premiums
Teaching quality premiums (recognition of the quality of teaching) obtained within the last five-year period.
Research quality premiums
Recognition of quality over a six-year period dedicated to research. If faculty staff (teaching and research staff) have earned premiums in different categories, premiums in the different categories are added together and will be shown in the current category.
Current research quality premiums
Research quality premiums (recognition of the quality of research) obtained within the last six-year period.
Transfer to a Bachelor?s degree course
Number of students in a given cohort who have transferred their student transcript from a pre-Bologna course to a Bachelor?s degree course in the same university.
In work three years after graduating
Percentage of those who were in work three years after completing their studies.
Unit
This can be either a faculty, school, department or another type of unit within the university.
University
Institution of higher education divided into a number of academic departments, schools or faculties where higher studies are taught and the corresponding degrees awarded.
Foreign university
University that is not part of the network of Spanish universities.
Path of admission
The various ways that a student can gain admission to a university.
